In the fall of 2010 I participated in a Tulane City Center studio that involved the design and construction of a 400 square foot addition to a transitional home for displaced women and children.

Rather than hold a competition, instructor Emilie Taylor encouraged a more collaborative approach, making sure that every student had input on the project.

My previous experience, not only with tools and building techniques but also with the transition from paper to reality, were valuable to the studio and informative for less experienced students.
